History
The Meikle Foundation began its existence in 1973 when the four Meikle sisters set up the Martin Connell Charitable Trust by a Deed of Trust. Following the passing of the last surviving sister, the Trust has been renamed from the Martin Connell Charitable Trust to The Meikle Foundation to reflect the family name of the four sisters, Janet Martin Meikle, Agnes Connnell Meikle, Isobel Saunders Meikle and Margaret Ewen (nee Meikle).
Following initial gifts from each of the sisters the Foundation has grown over the years since 1973 as each of the sisters has left their estates to the Foundation. A copy of the latest published accounts can be viewed by searching on the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator's ("OSCR") website.
